Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

The RemoteSWE Chrome extension (the “Extension”) does one thing: it writes or reviews a job proposal for the page you are on, using your RemoteSWE account. This page explains what it can access and what it sends to us. Your RemoteSWE account itself is governed by our Terms of Use.

1. What the Extension reads

The Extension reads the text of a web page only when you click “Use this page”. It reads the page’s address to tell which freelance platform you are on. It does not read pages in the background, does not track your browsing, and does not read pages you have not asked it to.

2. What the Extension sends to RemoteSWE

When you click “Write my proposal” or “Review my proposal”, the Extension sends the job description, any draft or notes you typed, and the platform name to remoteswe.com. That is the same data the website form sends, and it is stored in your RemoteSWE history exactly as if you had used the website: encrypted, and not viewable by our team (see our Privacy Policy). Nothing is sent to any other party by the Extension.

3. Sign-in

The Extension has no login of its own. It uses the session you already have on remoteswe.com in the same browser. Signing out on the website signs the Extension out too. The Extension never sees your password.

4. What the Extension stores

Nothing. The Extension keeps no data on your computer beyond what is on screen while the panel is open. It contains no analytics or advertising code.

5. Permissions

The Extension asks to read pages on upwork.com, toptal.com and arc.dev so that “Use this page” works there without a second click, and to talk to www.remoteswe.com so that it can use your account. On any other site it can read the page only after you click the Extension’s icon on that tab.

6. Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request to delete your data, go through the contact form.
